Installing Laminate and Hardwood on Stairs
Installing laminate and hardwood flooring on stairs is a little tricky, but the results are beautiful to look at. However, there are a couple of things you should consider when doing this in your home.
You do not need to use an underlayment on the stairs when installing laminate or hardwood. The laminate planks should be glued directly to the stair. For hardwood, the planks are nailed down. If you are considering hardwood on your stairway, we recommend that you use wide planks of wood that match your existing hardwood floor rather than the narrow strips. This gives a much more finished and professional look.
All in all, we recommend you use a professional when installing laminate or hardwood on stairs. Often, each stair has a different measurement which requires a lot of remeasuring and calculation. Errors cost money and time wasted. The stairway is often a focal point or the first thing visitors see when they enter your home so you want to do it properly.
